Large tables, small waves
Challenge
Maturo specialises in positioning systems for EMC and radio measurements. The company required a new drive for a rotary table for measuring the electromechanic compatibility of vehicles as the old, complex gear rim pinion drive was not precise enough for the desired positioning accuracy of 0.01 degrees.Solution
The high degree of positioning accuracy was one of the main reasons why Maturo chose to make the switch to the CR?2000 heavy duty table. Further arguments in favour of the new system are user-programmability, a large central opening and an extremely high permissible mass moment of inertia. The rotary table with a diameter of 14 metres and a total weight of 25 tonnes was needed for handling a mass moment of inertia of 1,000,000 kgm2. Fixed castors attached to the perimeter bear part of the weight, while an additional transmission fitted between the drive and the table guarantees better controllability. In addition, modifications make it possible to use the solution outdoors for the first time.Products in use

Freely programmable heavy duty table

The CR is a solution that saves us both time and engineering costs.

Solutions
- Replacing the old complex gear rim drive solution with just a single WEISS CR 2000 heavy duty table as the only component saves both time and engineering costs.
- A rotary table for positioning with a diameter of 14 metres and a total weight of 25 tonnes was designed for a mass moment of inertia of 1,000,000 kgm2.
- The positioning accuracy is smaller than 0.01 degrees.
